December Daily Album cover

As I was surfing 2 Peas, I started to run across a lot of albums (really cute ones) that were labeled December Daily Albums. I thought it sounded like a cool idea, so I looked into it a little more. It's based on an idea from Ali Edwards' blog ... and basically, it entails taking a photo a day in December, and doing a bit of journaling about it, to capture the whole holiday season. For my album cover, I was inspired by this weeks' sketch from 2Sketches4You. I used chipboard, my Cricut, some scrumptious Basic Grey patterned paper, some cream colored paint from Making Memories , some red Basic Grey cardstock that I Cuttlebugged with the Swiss Dots folder, lots of fabulous red and cream ribbons and trims, and the Christmas Potpourri Wreath digistamp from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. I used a snowflake chipboard piece from Making Memories, that I coated with Martha Stewart mica flake glitter and attached with a pearl brad.

Lindsay has a contest to win a free set of digistamps going on at MyGraphico in the Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Group, and all sets at MyGraphico are 20% off for Thanksgiving Thursday only! Head on over to Lindsay's blog and check it out! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Thursday with Lindsay's Stamp Stuff *And a Christmasy Freebie!

Well, I must admit I panicked a little bit when I got ready to do my post for today and realized that I had left my camera at my father-in-law's house yesterday! Then I remembered...duh, I HAVE a scanner! (insert smack to the forehead here!) So I scanned my cards for today...you miss some of the dimension, but you get the general idea! Here goes...

For this week's Lindsay's Stamp Stuff post, I decided that I wanted to meet a few challenges and make a few Christmas cards. The firstcard that I made was based on sketch #142 from http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/ . I used a couple of brand new digistamps from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, one of the Christmas Potpourri Bingo Cards (These are soooo awesome!), and the ornament is also from the new Christmas Potpourri Set. The other Christmas card for today is based on this week's Mojo Monday Sketch. I used the Holly Wreath, which is also from the Christmas Potpourri Set. I added Glossy accents to the berries and allowed them to dry overnight for a dimensional look. The gingerbread girl was a Dustin Pike freebie, which I combined with the "Happy Holidays" clear stamp sentiment that I picked up at WalMart after Christmas last year. I put them together on one of Lindsay's Embossed Scalloped mat digis, and put it all together with pop dots.

Now, Last, but not least, here are some pretty Christmas Bells that I converted to svg for you! Download them HERE.

That's it for me, now head on over to the other designers' blogs, there is lots of eye candy for you!

Thursday with Lindsay's Stamp Stuff

Here's the card I made for this week's challenge at Inspirational Card Sketches. I started with a white card base, embossed it with Cuttlebug's Dvine Swirls folder. I added a strip of red shimmer cardstock from Wasau Paper to the bottom, printed out the Embossed Rectangle digistamp from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, and the Embossed Scalloped Circle freebie (find it HERE). I stamped "Tis the Season" with a traditional Martha Stewart clear stamp, and printed out Lora's Poinsettia digistamp freebie (which you can find HERE). I colored the poinsettia digistamp with my copics, inked the edges of my scalloped circle with Ladybug red Momento ink, colored some chipboard swirls from Cherry Arte with my Copics, and put it all together with some pop dots for a 3-d effect. All that was left was tying on a sheer red ribbon for a finishing touch.

Lindsay's new set this week is this awesome recipe card digistamp set- so I had to use it-since I am still working on my sister's Christmas present ( a recipe book)! For both of these layouts, I used sketches from 52 Sketches...52 Weeks.
Your free svg file is the loaf of bread on my "Angel Biscuits" page. You can download it HERE.

Pecan Pie and a blog candy link!

I did this page for a contest through today over at Creative Cookbooking. They challenged us to scraplift a layout from the Graphic 45 gallery for a Thanksgiving recipe page. I used Basic Grey Ambrosia papers, lace from my Grandma's house, a recipe card from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Recipe Card Set (This is a sneaky peek at the set...it's not available till Thursday! I LOVE this digi stamp set-there are so many ways to use it! I will have more recipe card pages coming up!), and a cream colored paper doily that I cut with my Cricut and a free svg file. I chose this beauty by Susan Lui that I saw HERE.

Then I saw that Diecut Divas were having a recipe blog hop, so I added the recipe a little closer up, and I am submitting it for that also! Nothing like pecan pie for the holidays made with fresh picked pecans from my parents' house-not much can top it for a holiday dessert! My hubby doesn't like nuts, so I make it just for me and the memories! Yum!

A Christmas Card and ornament...

Today, I decided to make a Christmas card based on this week's sketch from Cupcake Crafts, and a little ornament to go with it. I used the "Dear Deer" digistamp from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, on top of the bracket shaped "embossed mat" digistamp (put them together in Photoshop),colored both the deer and the edge of the mat, and matted that on a piece of glitter cardstock from DCWV. I put three pieces of ribbon/trim on a patterned paper card, added my image, and then cut out a white snowflake and a green one (both from Dcwv's Glitter Mat Stack) with my Cricut and an SVG file from Dan's blog. I separated these with pop dots, and topped the embellishment off with a "homemade skittle" (thanks to the girls from my SCAL groups for so many money saving ideas). They are easy to make- all you need is a cheap high temp hot glue gun, and a nonstick craft or baking sheet. I tried this on freezer paper-didn't work.I think it melted the plastic, anyway, they wouldn't come up. So, I tried it on a nonstick baking sheet-worked great. All you have to do is make sure the glue is really hot, and hold the glue gun straight up and down a little bit above the mat-then squeeze! You can squeeze out the amount it takes to make the "skittle" whatever size you like. There were tiny hair like strings of glue sometimes, but they're super easy to snip off. Wait till they are completely cool, and color. (I used a Bic Mark-it)

For the ornament, I cut out two snowflakes with my Cricut (larger this time), accordian pleated a strip of patterned paper (the same as the card), and formed it into a rosette.I attached the snowflakes on top of the rosette with glue dots, then topped it with a circle Christmas image from LSS Christmas Cupcake Wrapper set (this set is useful for so much more than just cupcakes!). On Santa's hat, I added a tiny bit of my homemade "Flower Fluff"-see this post for details (this is another gem I learned from my SCAL group).

Now that's it for me...head over and check out the other designer's blogs, they have some fantastic projects and tutorials for you!
