October 2017 Counterfeit Kit Challenge kit, "The Road Less Traveled"

Good morning! When you are reading this,my son will be 16 years old (his birthday is October 1). Can't believe two of my kid are driving now! Anyway, you are here to see a kit! This month, Julene chose the gorgeous St. Tropez collection by Prima to inspire our kits. Here's a peek at St Tropez:

It reminded me of the Lori Whitlock collection for Echo Park that I had, Reflections, with its warm sand, woodgrain, blues, soft greens, and lovely  florals and map prints,so that is what I started with as I began to pull my kit together. I replaced the florals with leaf prints to make it a bit more "fall-ish". I came across Shimelle's Go Now Go collection, which I felt was  a lovely compliment, and carried the feeling of fall travel that I wanted for this month's kit.

Here are the papers that I chose:

Instead of adding a bunch of flowers, gems, and ephemera to my kit, I selected a handful of colorful leaves, a few small flowers, and a few die cuts from my scrap bin. I added a partially used sheet of puffy stickers, some sequins, and two rolls of golden washi tape:

I have so many kits sitting unused in my raskog cart-this kit is making me really want to dive back into my pretty papers! My plan is to order a batch of fresh photos- that and this kit should be a great jumpstart to my mojo!

It seemed very appropriate to name this kit after one of my favorite poems:

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

From The Poetry of Robert Frost by Robert Frost

August Counterfeit Kit Challenge Kit

I can't believe it is already August! It's time for back to school for my kids, and a new Counterfeit Kit challenge kit, as well!
This Month, we are counterfeiting the July Gossamer Blue Kit:

 My knock off version:

Yes, I did make a digital kit for this month-lately, digital/app scrapping is all I seem to be able to squeeze in, and I am trying feverishly to finish my Disney 2016 book before we go back at the end of the month. Not sure if I can complete it or not, but I will definitely "give it the old college try".

My kit is a mix of digi files from my computer, some Ali Edwards, some old digis from 2 Peas, etc. I am excited to incorporate this kit into my PL App scrapping this month!
Here's the list of CKC designers to visit and see all of their lovely kits.

July Mini Kit Madness

Good morning! This month, over at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog, we were given the June 2016 kit from Cocoa Daisy to be inspired by:

For my kit, since I was on mini kit duty, I knew that I wanted to use a lot of scraps and opened packages for my kit this month. Here is the kit that I pulled from my stash:
Papers only:

Full kit:

When I first started pulling papers for my kit, I started with bright colors, a large circle print, a small floral, and a lovely spring green and teal pattern. I then pulled out my scrap bin, and pulled out yellows, blues, pinks, and a bit of green, looking for some small pieces for layering, and for a few patterns that would work as cut-aparts. Now trust me, it was so tempting to pull out fresh embellishments, but for this mini kit, I was challenging myself to use scraps and open packages , so I found  lots of great opened/partially used supplies: several different types of Thickers, a couple of opened die cut packs that still have a bunch of lovely pieces inside (aren't those acetate pieces gorgeous?), puffy stickers that are almost gone, enamel bits that I have only used a few of, and some leftover gold glitter words. While the new stash is always tempting, I am actually looking forward to using up a bit of stash in this way...and I am determined to pitch it into the trash if I don't use it. And I have some really gorgeous papers in this kit that I can't wait to use, so it shouldn't be too hard.

For inspiration, I will be using the Scrap Your Scraps Series from Tori Bissell on Youtube:

And the newest issue of Scrapbooks and Cards Today:
Which is available for free online here.

These should be perfect to get my crafty mojo going!

Counterfeit Kit Challenge #2: Take 6

Welcome! After a bit of a crafty hiatus, I have had the chance to do a little crafting this month, and one of the first things that I did with my Counterfeit Kit for this month was to make a project for challenge #2/Take 6:
June is the sixth month of the year, so we're going to celebrate that by using six of something on a project.  It's your choice: you can try six patterned papers, six die-cuts, six buttons, etc.  Maybe you'd like to try adding six photos to your layout or even a six-letter title.  Just be sure to play along by including six of something!

I was excited to use this kit, since I love the pretty colors and patterns. I knew that the Crate Paper Craft Market wood veneer hoops would work perfectly with the story of this page, all about the kids on the 8th grade trip learning how to play some very simple games that the pilgrim children played when we visited Colonial Williamsburg. Ifollowed the challenge by using 6 wood veneer pieces, 6 stickers from the rose gold sticker sheet, and 6 pieces from the die cut pack. What a great way to use up some stash!

June 2017 Counterfeit Kit Challenge Kit...Summer Dreams

Good morning! It's so hard to believe that it's already June! These last couple of months have just whizzed by in a blur, with my oldest daughter's high school graduation, and all of the busyness that goes along with that. But I'm excited to do a little crafting, and our June kits will be the perfect little jumpstart to my mojo. This month, we are taking inspiration from the May Felicity Jane kits:
I love the colors and feminine feel to the Felicity Jane kits!  As I was pulling supplies for my kit, "Summer Dreams" from my stash, I took inspiration from the soft pinks and rose golds, swapping the soft blue for just a bit of mint green, and adding some bows and awesome paper clips into the mix.

April 2017 Counterfeit Kit challenge kit

Good morning! Our CKC inspiration for this month is :

February 2017 “Ashton Court” Scrapbook Kit by Cocoa Daisy
https://www.cocoadaisy.com/product/february-2017-ashton-court-scrapbook-kit/

I had a few of the items, and added in some similar items from older stash as well. Here is a look at my stash kit:

The kids are heavily involved in sports right now (I'm typing this post up late at night after a soccer game), so there's not a lot of free time for mama to blog at the moment, but I will get back to sharing more soon, I promise!

Have cup of coffee and a quick hop around to get some more kit making inspiration!

March 2017 Counterfeit Kit Challenge Mini Kit and project

Good morning! This month, I am on the mini kit team, so I made a mini kit that I added  on to my main kit. I took inspiration from the Hip Kit February embellishment kit:

Here's my mini kit:

They had a color add-on as well:

Here's a quick video reveal that I did of these kits:

Part of the mini kit team responsibility is a challenge to use the products in your mini kit, so I made a layout:

I used lots of products from all of my kits papers from my main kit, and Sand Castle and Craft Market 8x8 and 6x6 papers in layering, paint and heart stencil from my color kit, tags from my add-on, fussy cut butterflies from the Monarch paper by Maggie Holmes (main kit)and bits of the camera paper, along with hearts punched from a piece of the 6x6 paper pad. Here's a closer look at the details:

Thanks for stopping by today, I will be back with more soon!

March 2017 Counterfeit Kit Main Kit

Good morning! This month, I was in charge of choosing the Kit-to-Counterfeit, plus I am a part of the mini kit team. But I am a rule breaker, lol! I couldn't resist putting together a full kit, because I got so many of the items that are in the main inspiration kit this month. I'll still have a mini/add-on kit and small project to reveal on the 6th with the rest of the mini kit team, but today, I have a main kit for March.

The kit that we were to be inspired by this month is the February Hip Kit Club kit:
Here is my counterfeit kit with products from my stash, both old and new:

(Papers):

(Full Kit):

And I did a video reveal, as well, and I would love to have you watch it:

Thanks for dropping by today! Up tomorrow? I will be sharing my Project Life for this year to date. Thanks to the app, I'm still caught up! And I have almost 60 pages done for my Disney book from my October trip, so I will start sharing those soon as well. Have a happy, crafty day!

Combining Challenges with class work...Design Decisions prompt 6/ Counterfeit Kit Challenge #2, "It takes two"

Today I am sharing a page based on prompt 6 from the Design Decisions class, plus the new challenge from the Counterfeit Kit Challenge; "It takes Two". For the "Two" element, I am using 2 photos from my Washington D.C.trip:

The main two patterned papers are from my November Counterfeit Kit Challenge kit:

And the embellishments (star sticker strip, chipboard stars) and navy cardstock are from my January kit:

Here's a closer look at the embellishments; I added a few bits from the leftover sticker sheets that I am trying to use up, as well:

For some reason, these tiny chipboard stars just make me so happy!
Thanks for dropping by today! I will be back with more of my "homework" soon! P.S. pray for me, my oldest has her driver's test tomorrow...eep!

Design Decisions, Prompt 4 (Another take on the same inspiration)

For this part of the Prompt, I am taking inspiration from myself. I pulled out a page that I had made a while ago (6 months or more). I looked it over, made some mental notes about what I liked about it, and then started a new page using my February Counterfeit Kit :

Here's the page I was inspired by (right), and the new page (left):

And here's a closer look at the new layout:
Thanks for dropping by-I'm loving sharing my class work with you! I will have new post up in the morning with another layout that was inspired by this class and the Counterfeit Kit challenge blog.

Design Decisions, Prompt 4

Moving right along with my class work, here is one take on prompt #4:

I used my November CKCB kit:

This design was perfect for using up the off cuts and bits of scraps that were leftover in this kit, and I tucked in a few flower die cuts, chipboard, and fussy cut frames:

Thanks for dropping by today, the next time, I will have a completely different take on prompt 4 for you!

Finishing off some Page starters from old kits

Sometimes, if I am coming to the end of a kit, I will make up several page bases without any  photos, that I can later go back and quickly add photos, journaling, and embellishment to.

Like these:

Well, I was working through a stack of these, making pages, so thought I would share the pages that I have completed from these page bases.
I have a few from my April Secret Garden kit:

The completed layouts:

I feel good about getting more pages out of a really old kit!
