Last Minute Gift or Hostess Gift Idea

When I saw the idea for this on tv, I knew It would make the perfect hostess gift, and it's so simple! You can repurpose an old vinegar or olive oil bottle for this, or they sell these bottles at Hobby Lobby...use a coupon, get it super cheap... fill the bottle almost full of vodka, then take the peel from 2 meyer lemons and slip it down into the vodka, top it off with vodka, stop it up and make the tag! I made the tag with the lemon on it using the Preserves Cricut Cartridge, then added a rafia/twine bow, and flowers and brad from my stash. Let it set overnight, and it makes a great gift for any party host or hostess (maybe leave off the flowers if it's for a guy!).

Yummy Treats

For my post today, I am sharing some treats with you that I made for far off family members (small disclaimer-I got the idea to do the Vanilla Cinnamon Roasted Pecans from a fellow DT member-she made almonds, but I love pecans) Lindsay challenged us to make a tag today-I took a little bit of creative license with "tag" and made a label for my Vanilla Cinnamon Sugar Roasted Pecans. I put them in a tin that I washed and repurposed from some mini Pirouette cookies- covered the outside with some pretty Christmas patterned paper, tied a soft sage satin ribbon around it in a pretty bow, and printed the label from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Vintage Christmas Labels digistamp set on red cardstock, cut it out, and attached it with hot glue.

Another treat I made was Pumpkin bread, tied with a red satin ribbon and topped off with a label freebie that I found on the net.
Here's the recipe for the pecans:
Vanilla Cinnamon Sugar Roasted Pecans
4 cups pecans
1 egg white
1 Tbsp cold water
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 c. sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
Beat egg white, vanilla, and water until frothy but not stiff, then add pecans and toss to coat. Mix cinnamon, sugar, and salt, then pour over pecans and toss to coat. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet, and bake at 250 degrees for about an hour.

I loved these boots when I got them, and they are even comfortable-but the heel is coming off already after only wearing 3-4 times.

Pretty Packages, Ribbons, and Bows...

I love to make sweet treats and gifts for my kids' teachers, and these tiny Gable Boxes svg files from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff are on sale, so I thought that they would be PERFECT to hold the Chocolate Chip Cookie Truffles that I made!
I cut all of the boxes from a stack of Christmas paper from The Paper Studio, and- Lindsay has included a printable scoring guide, so you know exactly how to fold them! It makes it so much easier!
I added hand dyed shabby seam binding (yummy), and bits of flowers, mini tags, and brads, to make the boxes special.

Here is the recipe for the Chocolate Chip Cookie Truffles:

1pkg (16.5oz) Nestle's Toll House Refrigerated Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
1 pkg (3oz) cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup (6oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 Tbsp vegetable shortening
Preheat oven to 350. Prepare cookies according to package directions; however, bake 14 to 18 minutes until crisp and golden brown but not burnt. (crisp cookies will be easier to grind) Cool cookies completely on wire racks. Line baking sheets with wax paper. Crumble cookies into food processor. Process until mixture resembles a coarse meal. Add softened cream cheese, process until mixture begins to hold together. Mixture will be a dark color. Roll mixture into 1-inch balls;place on prepared sheet. Put in freezer 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Microwave morsels and shortening following melting directions on morsel packaging. Dip balls completely into melted chocolate with fork or toothpick. Use side of bowl to remove excess chocolate. Return to sheet, dust truffles with cocoa powder,or top with festive sprinkles. Refrigerate 30 minutes or until set.

Then make some of these AWESOME boxes to put them in!
You can take advantage of the pretty packaging sale at Lindsay's Stamp Stuff!
I am entering this into the challenge at MyGraphico for Christmas!

Thank you for allowing me to share with you today-come back this weekend, I plan to share some of my December Daily album with you!

A Sweet Gift for Someone Special

Today, I am sharing a little gift I made for one of my little sisters (but it could easily be given to a female friend, teacher, co-worker...). I made a little recipe box for holiday sweets and treats, using Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Recipe Cards and Folio SVG setand the Recipe Digital Stamp Set
And, today only- EVERYTHING is on sale:The SVG set made it so quick and easy- they cut like butter!I used some pretty Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses double-sided patterned paper, pink cardstock for the recipe cards, and printed the "From My Kitchen-From My Heart" digital stamp out 4 times at 1 3/4 inches, punched them out w/ my circle punch, glued them to the tabbed recipe dividers, then inked all away around the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Inks Tattered Rose.I tied some shabby seam binding ribbon around the box, added a chipboard snowflake, a beaded vintage hat pin, and some yummy Prima goodies-a pink pearl swirl(or actually, part of a swirl that I had left from another project), and a fabric flower. Viola-a great gift for a special lady! All I have left to do is add some of my favorite holiday sweet treat recipes! And,the details really do make the difference and make it special! I will have a hard time giving it up, I think!
Thank you for stopping by my blog today and letting me share with you! I hope I have inspired you to get out your crafty supplies and make something-for yourself or someone else.

It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year!

Hi, Everyone!!!I hope you had a Wonderful Thanksgiving! Mine was, for sure!I made dinner, which was quite a job, but I loved every minute of it! What a great way to show your family how much you love them, and so nice to put every thing else aside for a few days and just enjoy each other and being together! Now, I am in the Christmas spirit, and excited about all of the fun times and activities that this month will bring! (Photo ops galore! Kids, watch out-papparazzi mom is on the loose!)
Today, Lindsay gave us a mission: Keep it Quick and Easy Cards. I kind of struggled with this mission, because, if I am hand making a card for someone, I want it to be special. So, I decided simple but elegant was key . Lindsay's Homemade Holidays Printable Paper Pack was perfect for this! I took a couple of Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Vintage Christmas Label digistamps into Photoshop, played with the hue and saturation sliders under , until I got a red label that I was happy with (I loved it so much, actually, that I printed out an extra one to use in scrapbooking later-I LOVE that you can print digistamps out to make decorations in the size you need). I printed the Homemade Holidays paper and the digistamp out on cream cardstock, embossed a scrap of cream cardstock with the Houndstooth Cuttlebug folder, and glued/pop dotted it all together, with a sheer red ribbon. 'Cause I just can't seem to make a card with out ribbon.
Thanks for dropping by today-head over to Lindsay's blog and grab today's freebie, then on to the other designers' blogs for lots more inspiration! Be sure to drop by often, and I will try to share some of the Christmas projects I make as I make them!
