Going for the Gold With Jenni Bowlin Studios
This month Jenni Bowlin has been running a challenge based on the Olympics, and I have had tons of fun playing along! (Not to mention the fab prizes-fingers crossed!)
Here are couple of the pages that I have made for the challenge:
"Dedication To The Game" (Basketball Inspired):
Supplies used: From Jenni Bowlin: the negative of a JBS star sticker sheet as a mask for the stars, which I also outlined with a white gel pen, brown star stickers on the pocket, "Shoot" digital bingo card that I printed on photo paper, red Star stickers, and letter stickers for "To The" (the small round ones). I also used kraft cardstock, multicolored chevron paper from Anna Griffin, Pebbles and American Crafts letter stickers, diecut red vellum pocket, light green cardstock, Simple Stories ticket for journaling, and a little metal stick on star and stud circle.
and this one, "Smart Girl" (Gold Medal inspired):
This one is almost completely Jenni Bowlin products: black cardstock base, papers from the Classic Red and Black paper stack, Banner and borders are all die cut with my Cricut and red cardstock, I made a paper medallion which I inked and added a vintage style button to, added some stitching to the alpha border and the title banner (still feeling very inspired by Stitching on Paper), and I used the Jenni Bowlin black Chalkboard alpha stickers on the banner, and some black glitter chipboard Thickers for "girl". for the journaling block, I used the Jenni Bowlin Classic Foam Stamps and some pearl paint from Ranger, stamped it on a scrap of the black and cream star paper, dried and inked the edges, then used it for my journaling spot.I added an arrow from the JBS "This Way" rub-on set to keep my visual triangle, and some black rhinestone brads to the title banner from American Crafts, and called it done.

Summer Garden Challenge
The Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog had one more challenge for us to use our August kits:
Challenge #3: Summer Garden Challenge: Find some inspiration in a summer garden for your project!
And really, my whole kit filled with Summer Fresh was perfect for this challenge! I had some photos that I took while making blackberry freezer jam this summer (we have wild black berry bushes all behind our house, and they are yummy!), which I thought would be perfect to scrap for this challenge:
Supplies used were all from my August kit: Chatterbox patterned paper background (Oh how I miss that lovely linen textured paper!), Simple Stories Summer Fresh paper (the newsprint/chevron), and stickers-"Love Is" letter stickers, and the banner, word, and flower, Pebbles,Inc. navy letter stickers, and a journaling spot from Digital Design Essentials that I printed on water color paper and rounded the corners, and a scrap of red and white polka dot ribbon. After I photographed te layout, I decided to go back and add a line of stitching over the navy letters. Since it's after dark now, it will have to wait till morning for me to add that photo...

Do you want to know what inspired me to start stitching on paper? It was this fantastic class:
So many great ideas were shared for free, so I just had to play along-and I love what it adds to my layouts! I have decided to keep my sewing machine in a more accessible place so that I can use it alot more!

Feeling "Challenged"?
I am! Here is what the CKC blog challenged us to do:
Challenge #1: Enter an online
challenge! Pick an online challenge (something besides ours...don't be a
cheater!) and enter a project for it using your kit! You can pick a challenge
with or without some sort of prize attatched (although prizes are always more
fun).
So, I chose this sketch from Artful Delight:
And I made this layout (I switched up the photos and journaling spot a tiny bit to fit this background paper better):
Supplies used (from my August kit):
Background paper from MME, letter stickers from Simple Stories and Pink Paislee, border and flower stickers from Simple Stories, handmade flower,Mister Huey's Clay mist, a journaling card from a Smash pad in a previous kit, and Prima patterned tape.

Here is what they had to say:
This month we have decided to use a "different" type of inspiration kit...a DIGITAL kit!!! So much fun! There are so many bits and pieces to this month's kit, it should be really fun to put together and create with.
We have decided to use a kit from http://scraporchard.com/. Here is the link to the digital kit we will be counterfeiting, called Summer Lovin' by Chelle's Creations.
I was excited when I saw it, because I knew that my new collection from Simple Stories, Summer Fresh would be perfect for this months kit, and I was itching to use it!
Here is my kit for August, "Homemade Summer":
A closer look at all of my papers:
It is mostly made up of Simple Stories "Summer Fresh", with a few papers added in from My Mind's Eye, Pink Paislee, We R Memory Keepers, Chatterbox, and some kraft, light blue, and yellow cardstock.
I had a lot of fun embellies in there, too!
An envelope full of kraft journaling spots (from Maya Rd, I think):
Some fun little mini banners from a 2 peas swap:
My collection of bakers twine:Some decorative tapes from Prima and Target:
Some pretty flowers and rosettes:
Some Pinwheels:
A bottle of Mr. Huey's mist:
Pretty buttons from Chatterbox:
Metal, chipboard, and felt bits:
I printed up some digital journaling cards and things from Two Peas, Digital Design Essentials, and CSI: Color, Stories, and Inspiration (and I can't remember where I came across the bingo calendars, but they were all freebies):And topped it all off with a good assortment of letter stickers:
I love my kit and can't wait to start playing with it!
Here are the rest of the designer's blogs, check them out for lots more takes on this fun kit!
