Welcome to our Counterfeit Kit Reveal for July! This month we were given the Scrapabilly March kit to be inspired by:
So that was the jumping off point for my kit. This is the paper selection that I ended up with:
I think the border strip paper may have been the trigger for me to use this collection, and I basically went for similar patterns, since I had taken the color scheme in a different direction. There are border strip papers in both kits, lace prints (mine is from a vintage Basic Grey collection), woodgrains (although mine is admittedly quite different), brocade prints, black with white polka dots, frame paper, and a couple of the Beautiful Moments papers are floral on the other side (I don't intend to use the floral sides, so I included the sheet of foldies to get my flowers in there). Most of the papers that I selected are from the Carta Bella Beautiful Moments collection, but I also liked the chalk board cut aparts, and the frames from the Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party collection (stay tuned, I have ideas for this paper!),a woodgrain from Maggie Holmes, the black striped paper from the Shimelle collection, and added in a floral embossed specialty paper that is ages old, and a small floral print from a DCWV print, and some Sassafrass Lass "Foldies" for good measure.
Here is a look at my entire kit, including the embellishments:
A closer look at some of my favorite bits and pieces:
I am excited to use this kit-I love the quality of the Carta Bella papers, and I have some fun embellies in there this month too.
Now, get yourself a cup of coffee (or your beverage of choice) and have a look at what the other designers are up to this month-I know I can't wait to see the kits of supplies that everyone will be choosing!

What a fun direction to take your kit! At first, I couldn't see the original but when I look at it as a whole, the inspiration is definitely there! The border strip paper is a great starting point! Isn't it funny which different directions we take?
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhh loving your take on the kit!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI adore when inspiration takes us in an unexpected direction! You have definitely kept quite close to the original. Love those deep ruby bits & the splash of gold!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking kit! I can easily see the inspiration and I think the Maggie Holmes ephemera is my favorite addition. It even brings a touch of the green in.
ReplyDeleteAh, beautiful colors!!! What a great kit! This is a wonderful inspiration
ReplyDeleteInteresting....the colour change threw me at first but I can see the pattern similarities.A very pretty kit.
ReplyDeleteOooo, I love this. Much the same feel, but with better colors. (Don't tell the others I said that.) Scrap on, Margie.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing how you took that one border paper and then built a completely different but very beautiful kit from it! It's nice to see the color purple being featured - it seems to be an underappreciated color (scrapping-wise). And I am very intrigued by those foldies - I remember them but don't think I have any. I'm looking forward to see how you use them and the rest of your lovely kit this month!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty kit, love your choice of papers from your inspiration piece.

Oh so pretty. I love how you've taken the original inspiration and jumped in a direction that suits you!
ReplyDeleteI like how you went with a completely different color scheme for your kit! That Carte Bella kit is to die for! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the Carta Bella papers as well. The patterns are always FAB and I love the thick weight and texture. Is that always the case for their papers? Your color scheme is a total departure, but I can totally see how you were inspired! Have fun creating this month.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty kit, I like the direction you went with the kit :) Love the purple with all those neutral colors too. Looks like a good inspiring piece to get the kit started with :) Enjoy!
