Which leads me to Tip #1: If you are altering an older paper with stamps, look for stamps that fit with the style of the paper collection. I chose these sketchy, swirly style stamps because I felt that they fit the Love, Elsie style papers.
I will be honest, I almost didn't want to alter the notebook side of the yellow paper, because the other side is the most adorable camera print ever:
But, hoarding it is getting me nowhere, so, I went for it. I stamped, misted, and bejeweled it (Tip #2: adding mist and gems to a stamped background makes it flow much better and ties it all together):
I wasn't quite sure what type of page I wanted to make with it, but I saw an old polaroid lying out from my high school graduation, and felt that it fit the notebook paper background, so I started there.
Tip #3: When you get stuck on a page, look to a challenge! There are so many inspiring challenges out there that your mojo will be flowing in no time! I took a Stash Busters challenge on the 2Peas message board, and grabbed some papers, die cuts, handmade vellum feathers, and other bits from my scrap bin to finish this page up.
Here is my page, Sweet Sweet Moment:

Love what you did with the stamps! I don't have too many stamps, but the ones I do have, I need to use more often! Great job on your layout!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that looks AMAZING! I'm almost never confident enough to stamp right on paper, but I love the effect - especially with the gems and layers and stuff!
ReplyDeleteI love using backing sheet to figure out where I am going to place it, then a little Staz-On and bravery does the rest!
DeleteI always have a terrible time using double sided paper!! Way to go for it and just do it!!
ReplyDeleteThe stars have really brightened it all up.....I should use my stamps far more on layouts.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love your stars!
ReplyDeleteThis page is FANTASTIC!!!! Love the stamping! And I can totally identify....there are many sheets of paper in my collection....UNUSED because of how much I "love" a pattern. You've reminded me again that there is no reason to hoard something I could use right now!
ReplyDeleteSuch great ideas to use up dome older stuff! I have such a hard time using the older stuff
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with the stamped stars & jazzing them up. Thanks for sharing all your ideas, they have been great! Robin
ReplyDeleteI love your page, so pretty and detailed. I've really enjoyed reading your Love, Elsie posts. I think I have some of the Love, Elsie products hidden somewhere, maybe I have to find them now. Happy weekend, from Norway :)
ReplyDeletegorgeous layout, like how you did the sparkly stars on the background paper. Thank you for the tips.
