Counterfeit Kit Club Blog Hop

Thanks for joining us for the 2nd Counterfeit Kit Club Blog hop! I am always excited to see what they have for us-there are always so many great challenges, and it is so inspiring to see so many people using their stash and making the supplies they already have working for them! The sketch below was taken from Scraps Of Darkness kit club, which was also our inspiration kit for the month. My layout was made up almost entirely from my February Counterfeit Kit. My favorite part of this layout is the photo of my mom and my girls, because I really think that it showcases the sweet and precious relationship that they share! For the layout, I used the Making Memories Love Notes red glitter printed cardstock, the backside of one of my GCD Studios sheets, cut the circle out of the center of the red glitter sheet, made my own roses out of burgundy cardstock, an svg file from Dan's blog (mycraftylife), the little golden frame, the "love" sheet from Making Memories Vintage Findings, the key and lock grungeboard, which I heat embossed with gold ink and embossing powder, and attached the lock with a couple of Basic Grey Painted Brads.I also used a grungeboard flourish, which I painted with Barn Door Crackle Paint by Ranger, and inked with red and black ink. The label is an American Crafts Remarks sticker, and I used a strip of the polka dot side of the GCD Studios paper in place of the fuzzy trim. I thought it all was lacking a tiny bit of "special something", so I put Glossy Accents on the edges of the rose petals, and added two sizes of red glitter.
Scroll down to see the rest of the layouts that I have made so far from my kit!
Now, you don't want to miss the rest of the hop! The next blog you will be visiting is Marlynn .

Getting some more scrapping done...

Just a quick post to share some more layouts that I have made with my February Counterfeit kit!
Flower Girl: The photo of my beautiful daughter was taken by Churchill photography.
almost everything I used was from my kit: light purple cardstock and silvery patterned paper from SEI, along with pale pink cardstock, pale pink tiny flowers, Jenni Bowlin journaling cards, Making Memories letter stickers, pink tiny pearl strands, pink glitter puffy paint for the "bling" around the title circle. The one thing I added from my stash was the flower ribbon along the center of the layout. I had the Heidi Swapp felt butterflies from my kit along the center of the layout, but I couldn't get it to look the way I wanted, so I scrapped them and put the flower ribbon there. I like the way that looks alot better!
Bridesmaids: a layout with a photo from my sister's wedding this past summer (taken by Churchill Photography). All supplies were from my kit: lavender cardstock, white cardstock, I flicked droplets of my homemade glimmer paint across the layout, mounted the photo on a deep pink cardstock from SEI, added the ZVA bling flourish, the green Prima flower, and tiny white flowers, tying the ones by the title with a sheer lavendar ribbon from my Romance Add-On. The title is a combination of the Making Memories letter stickers and white glitter Thickers. I didn't get the best photos of this layout, but oh well...
Eleven: a layout about my oldest daughter's eleventh birthday, using only supplies from the kit: pink cardstock, Wild Pansy Glazed Bazzill, pink shabby seam binding, glitter white chipboard Thickers, pink primas that I dry brushed with my Homemade Glimmer paint, and one of my Homemade Page Pebbles, along with Prima Say It In Crystals.
Thanks for letting me share with you!

Handsome Guys All In A Row...

My little man, of course, is the handsomest (is that a word?) ;-) The wedding photos were taken by Churchill Photography (aren't they wonderful?). For the layout, I used my February Counterfeit Kit: black cardstock, silver SEI patterned paper, the Grungeboard flourish that I inked with a black Momento ink pad. The journaling tag is the chipboard backing to the pink primas, tied at the top with red shabby seam binding, and layered scrapof the GCD paper ( I used the pearlized back, and an American Crafts Remarks journaling spot, all from my kit. I finished the page off with a piece of an Anna Griffin journaling spot (left over from this layout
), and my Homemade Page Pebble (see how I made them HERE )
I just loved the pocket watch digistamp that I used from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Steampunk digistamp set. It's just so perfectly vintage and masculine, and it can be resized to whatever size you like, so it's a great image for a guy's birthday card! Thanks for looking! Counterfeit Kit Paper Piecing Mini Challenge

This challenge was the perfect opportunity to pull out my Preserves cartridge and use my Cricut, along with my February Counterfeit kit! I used the burgundy Swiss Dots Bazzill, black grosgrain ribbon, American Crafts Remarks journaling spot, which I decorated with one of the Prima Say It In Crystals, the word "blackberry", and the berries, which were actually the raspberries in the Preserves cart booklet, but I wanted 2, so that is what I used. I also used the "faux embossed metal technique" for one of the Basic Grey chipboard pieces in my kit, used Basic Grey Painted Brads, and I used the swiss dots Cuttlebug folder to emboss the Blackberries, and inked and coated them with Glossy Accents to get the effect I wanted.
I also used my color kit to color the Grungeboard swirls at the corners of the layout, and added a couple of the Maya Road flower rub-on's to the red leather photo corners. Thanks for looking!

A little note card to share...

Before I get into the card...let me start by saying that I have been extremely sick over the past week, with a high fever, upset stomach, you name it! So I truly and deeply apoligize if I have not been by your blogs, but I just didn't even feel like reading until today. But I am finally on the mend, thank goodness. Just give me a few days to get back into the swing of things, and I will do my best to get around to them!
Okay, on to the card!
I am doing my best to stick with my February Counterfeit kit, and the only things here that are not from the kit are the glue I used and the Vintage Dress Digistamp freebie from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. I used a scrap of pink cardstock from my kit for the card base, and cut a slit at the waist to tuck in the one edge of the black tulle, put a line of Glossy Accents above it and attached a little bit of the pearl strand to it, and added one of the tiny pink flowers from my kit. I think it all added up to a sweet little card that will be perfect if one of my daughters needs a little love note from Mommy some day!
Thanks for dropping by today! In the morning (Thursday), my fellow Lindsay's Stamp Stuff designers will have more crafty projects and inspiration for you, and as always, Lindsay will have her weekly freebie for you! Check it all out here:

How to Make Decorative Page Pebbles...A Quick Tutorial

This is what I woke up to this morning...isn't it pretty? Anyway, I thought I would share a quick tutorial on how to make your own decorative page pebbles. Here is an example of page pebbles from Prima:

And here are mine:

It only took a few easy steps to make them!

1. Gather your supplies. I used some old leftover Making Memories Page Pebbles, but if you don't have those, you can use Glossy Accents. Just be aware that the Page Pebbles sometimes yellow with age-that doesn't bother me, because it kind of adds to the vintage/aged look. I also used free Vintage Sheet music from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, Steampunk and Posh and Trendy digistamps, and Harlequin digipaper from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Bold Black And White Collection of digipapers, along with other various scraps of patterned paper with small prints (it's a great way to use up those small scraps you just can't bear to throw away!).

2. Leave your pebbles on the plastic backing and trim around with fine tipped scissors.
3. Trace arount the circle or oval with a pencil and cut with your fine tipped scissors on the marks(don't worry if it's not perfect, we'll fix it in a minute). Then you can ink or chalk your circles before adhering the pebbles if you want, I did with some of mine. Adhere the pebbles and trim any excess, using the pebbles as your guide for your scissors (don't be scared, it's easy!)
4. Voila! Page Pebbles-and you can customize them how you like!

Now hop over to Lindsay and the rest of the LSS Design Team for more crafty inspiration and another freebie!

My first page for February...

Started with this sketch from Sketch Inspirations:

and my February Counterfeit Kit! I used Teresa Collins Damask patterned paper, tiny cream flowers, Black grosgrain ribbon, a journaling spot from the Anna Griffin pad, a date sticker from American Crafts Remarks pad, some "faux metal bookplates", made using grungeboard and silver ink and embossing powder, a Spare Parts jeweled brad, one of the Tim Holtz stamps was used for the quote, stamped and embossed with black embossing powder, and 2 ZVA Creative pearl flourishes, and the vintage french ephemera receipt was used for a photo mat.

The items I used from last month's kit: the large black doily, and scrap of red Memories red lacy paper that I "fussy cut" for the scalloped trim along the bottom, under the grosgrain ribbon.

From my stash, I pulled black brads, some red flowers, and watercolor paper to stamp on. This layout was a ton of fun to pull together! Can't wait to make some more layouts with my kit!

February Counterfeit Kit

I had soooo much fun playing along with the Counterfeit Kit Club blog last month, so I couldn't wait to see what they had for us this month! They didn't disappoint! The kit they chose to scraplift this month was an awesome kit from Scraps Of Darkness kit club, shown below:
The first thing I thought when I saw this kit was, "Very French, very sexy, and a little, well, dark." Not exactly my normal style, but gorgeous, and I want to push my creative boundaries, so I made a kit as similar as I could, and even made my own version of all of the add on kits from my stash:

Crimson, Silvery Onyx, Concrete shimmer, Hot Lips hot pink sparkle, Ruby Shimmerz, Homemade dark Cherry Shimmer, Homemade Plum Crazy shimmer, Pink Sparkles puffy paint, Pink, Lavendar, and Denim Distressed Stickles, Silver Making Memories paint(if yours are sort of dried out like mine, you can add a bit of warm water and shake really well to get them flowing again),Rose Tea Glimmer Mist, and Tim Holtz Picket Fence Crackle paint. I plan to make some stencils/misting screens with my Cricut, and I will share those when I am finished!

This was so much fun to put together, and I cant wait to make some decorative pebbles, flourished heart and masks, and maybe turn some of that Grungeboard and chipboard into faux metal accents! And make pages and cards too, of course! And of course I'll share it all here when I do it!

A Yummy Birthday Wish and a Sale!

For the birthday card I am sharing today, I was inspired by this week's Cupcake Inspirations photo (don't these cupcakes look so yummy?!) I used the "A Little Lovin' " clip art and SVG set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff-it was perfect for me this week, since I just didn't feel like coloring( I am going through more of an organization phase than a creative phase right now, and I didn't want to pull a bunch of stuff out till I get done organizing my scrappy stuff).Lindsay has her WHOLE Store on sale for 30% , Today through Sunday only!! Catch these great prices on all of her digistamps, awesome SVG files, and clip art/digiscrap goodies!
I used a few leftovers from my Counterfeit Kit from January (the yellow glitter cardstock scrap and the yellow shabby seam binding), the clip art from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, printed out, die-cut, and embossed with my favorite Nestabilities Label shape, a scrap of debossed pink cardstock that I had, and a pink stamp pad for inking the edges of everything. Fairly quick and simple, not too big of a mess, and I used up a few scraps!
The challenges that I am linking up to are:

Now, be sure to head over to Lindsay and the other designers' blogs for crafty goodness and a freebie!
