Joy Rides! ( and a freebie for SCAL)

I made this layout for my little girls, using a fab sketch by Julie Bonner for the Magpie Club. Lindsay's Stamp Stuff has a new set of digistamps, On The Line, with some of the cutest little banners in it! I couldn't wait to do something with them, and the sketch fit them perfectly. I printed the digis on various colors and patterns of paper and vellum, and shaded them with my copics (just on the stitching and the ruffles).There was a good bit of "fussy cutting" required, but I made my hubby help ;-) .
I made the title in SCAL, which you can download HERE.
After I cut it out, I ran it through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder, and inked it with white ink to make it stand out. I did stretch it to make a double page spread, 'cause I have soooo many photos to scrap!
The tag that I journaled on was a stamp (clear acrylic) from Autumn Leaves, The patterned papers are from GCD Studios, and the round "lollipop" flower/"ferris wheel" accents are "flowers" that I received from a swap that I was in on 2Peas.

A quick card for a swap, and a SALE!

Today I am sharing a simple recipe card that I made for a swap on 2 Peas, all about strawberries! My recipe is for my Gran's shortbread. So yummy! I used the Recipe Lines digistamp from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff recipe set, a paper doily from the Dollar Tree, a square of red gingham paper, a free svg file for a strawberry that I picked up on the web, and a white flower from Plantain Schoolbook cartriidge, with the edges rolled, and a dot of yellow stickles in the center.

Thursday with Lindsay's Stamp Stuff *And a Christmasy Freebie!

Well, I must admit I panicked a little bit when I got ready to do my post for today and realized that I had left my camera at my father-in-law's house yesterday! Then I remembered...duh, I HAVE a scanner! (insert smack to the forehead here!) So I scanned my cards for today...you miss some of the dimension, but you get the general idea! Here goes...

For this week's Lindsay's Stamp Stuff post, I decided that I wanted to meet a few challenges and make a few Christmas cards. The firstcard that I made was based on sketch #142 from http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/ . I used a couple of brand new digistamps from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, one of the Christmas Potpourri Bingo Cards (These are soooo awesome!), and the ornament is also from the new Christmas Potpourri Set. The other Christmas card for today is based on this week's Mojo Monday Sketch. I used the Holly Wreath, which is also from the Christmas Potpourri Set. I added Glossy accents to the berries and allowed them to dry overnight for a dimensional look. The gingerbread girl was a Dustin Pike freebie, which I combined with the "Happy Holidays" clear stamp sentiment that I picked up at WalMart after Christmas last year. I put them together on one of Lindsay's Embossed Scalloped mat digis, and put it all together with pop dots.

Thursday with Lindsay's Stamp Stuff

Here's the card I made for this week's challenge at Inspirational Card Sketches. I started with a white card base, embossed it with Cuttlebug's Dvine Swirls folder. I added a strip of red shimmer cardstock from Wasau Paper to the bottom, printed out the Embossed Rectangle digistamp from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, and the Embossed Scalloped Circle freebie (find it HERE). I stamped "Tis the Season" with a traditional Martha Stewart clear stamp, and printed out Lora's Poinsettia digistamp freebie (which you can find HERE). I colored the poinsettia digistamp with my copics, inked the edges of my scalloped circle with Ladybug red Momento ink, colored some chipboard swirls from Cherry Arte with my Copics, and put it all together with some pop dots for a 3-d effect. All that was left was tying on a sheer red ribbon for a finishing touch.

Lindsay's new set this week is this awesome recipe card digistamp set- so I had to use it-since I am still working on my sister's Christmas present ( a recipe book)! For both of these layouts, I used sketches from 52 Sketches...52 Weeks.

Getting started on Christmas lists... (And Find The Freebie...)

My post for today is a last minute entry for Triple The Sketch, sketch 71. I have seen all kinds of ideas to get organized for Christmas, and I am determined to carry out my plans this year! I found this great site that has downloadable calendars and lists, The Grand Plan. I printed the sheets out, put them in a white 1" binder (super cheap in the back to school supplies right now). And of course I had to decorate it (can anyone say, high school flashback!). The base is Martha Stewart Golden Woodland cardstock pad, and I cut the scalloped circle and flourishes using SCAL. I added a vintage Santa freebie I found on the web, printed on watercolor paper and heat embossed the edges in gold. I added this cute Peppermint Digistamp from the April Collection at Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, printed 3 times and colored with my Bic markers and white Uniball Signo pen. I attached it in layers with glue and pop-dots, and added the little 7Gypsies sticker and the title strips. Thanks for looking!

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff...And Freebies For you!

Today I am sharing two cards with you. The first, I used this week's sketch from Inspirational Card Sketches, and made an anniversary card for my parents. Thirty-one years! We should all be so blessed/lucky! The background of the card is Basic Grey Wisteria, then I used a scrap of light blue distressed graph-style paper for the triangle, and attached a border underneath the edge that I made from a shimmery white gold cardstock from Wasau paper, with my Martha Stewart doily edge punch. I attached a pale yellow scalloped oval that I cut from the Storybook Cartridge. To finish the card-I printed the Filled Butterfly digistamp from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff on a transparency, then used Broken China and Silver Stickles for the body and antenae of the butterfly. Added 3 small pearls, and I think I came up with a pretty anniversary card for my parents!

The second card was just for fun. I wanted to fulfill the Dare You To Digistamp Friday Challenge, and this week's was "distressing". So, I made this shopper silhouette from some clip art, to be cut on my Cricut with SCAL. If you would like a copy of this svg, click here. I used the Shopping Bags digistamp from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, and printed it out on different paper scraps, which I shaded with Copics, and decorated with various gemstones/glitter pens/Jolee's. The chipboard sentiment and ribbon are from Die Cuts With A View, and the background for the card is shimmery Wasau cardstock. I distressed it by inking the edges of the card and chipboard with Tuxedo Black Momento ink. A Cool Treat for a Hot Day

I was outside mowing today (in the 90+ degree TN heat), and I needed a way to cool down. But, since I am on a diet...I thought I would just sit in the air conditioning and make this fudgesicle svg file instead! You can download the file HERE. Enjoy!

To Celebrate 10,000 Hits...

3 more layouts for July! (And a free Cinnamon roll svg for you!)

Over the weekend, I worked on a few pages for the recipe album that I am making for my little sis. Most of the svg files I used (the rolling pin- Cinnamon roll page), (the mixing spoon and spatula-Easy Peanut Butter Cookies), and (the "Pie" for Pumpkin Pie), I used free svgs from Lora's Blog. For the cinnamon roll, I made my own svg, which you can find HERE

And since these recipes are family favorites, I thought I would also share the recipes for any one who would like them

Caramel/Cinnamon Rolls

2 pkgs dry yeast

1/2 c. warm water

1/2 c. lukewarm milk

1/2 c. sugar

1 tsp. salt

2 eggs

1/2 c (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened

4 1/2 to 5 c. unbleached all-purpose flour

Filling:

1 to 2 T butter,softened

1 to 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

2-3 T brown sugar

powdered sugar to taste

(I usually double the filling)

Caramel (or you can skip this part and add the frosting on top)

1 c. brown sugar

8 T. butter

1/2 c- 1 c cream (if you don't have heavy cream you can use evaporated milk or half and half)

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in milk, sugar, salt, eggs, butter, and 2 1/2 c. of the flour, beating until smooth. Mix in enough of the remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.

Turn out onto lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Place in greased bowl and rotate so that greased side is up. Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 1/2 hours.

Punch down dough, turn out onto lightly floured surface, and roll into an 11x17 inch rectangle. Cover w/ filling ingredients by spreading w/ butter and sprinkling w/ cinnamon, powdered sugar, and brown sugar. Roll up like a jelly roll, beginning at long side, and cut into slices 2 inches wide.

Prepare caramel by dividing between 2 9 inch cake pans and spreading over the bottoms. Cut butter into pats and distribute over top of sugar in both pans, then pour cream over that. Place rolls in pans, leaving space for rising. Cover, let rise until doubled in size, and bake in pre-heated 375 degree oven for 25-30 minutes.

You can skip the caramel and make this awesome "Cinnabon" Frosting:

1/2 lb. butter

1/2 lb. cream cheese

1 lb. powdered sugar

1 tsp. lemon juice

1 tsp. vanilla extract

Allow butter and cream cheese to reach room temp. Beat together until fluffy, slowly add sugar, beat 12 minutes then add extract.

Eat them warm....Yummy!

Easy Peanut Butter Cookies

1 c. creamy peanut butter

1c. sugar

1 egg, beaten

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix peanut butter and sugar together, blending well. Stir in egg and vanilla. Shape into 1 inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press w/ fork to flatten slightly. Bake in 350 degree oven for 12 minutes (they won't LOOK done, but take them out, they will harden as they cool).

Try to wait until they cool, then eat them with a tall, frosty glass of milk.

Pumpkin Pie

1 deep dish pie crust

1 egg white

1 T. ice water

2 eggs

1/2 c. brown sugar

1 tsp. cinnamon

2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

pinch of salt

16 oz. can of 100% Pure Pumpkin

1 c. heavy cream

Line pie crust w/ foil and bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove foil. Bake 1 minute more. Beat egg white, and 1 T. ice water. Brush on bottoms and sides.

Filling: in large bowl, beat eggs with brown sugar, cream, cinnamon, pie spice, and salt. Stir in canned pumpkin, and pour into pie shell. Bake for 30-40 minutes. Filling should jiggle slightly. Serve warm with whipped cream.

For Triple the Sketch and Pink Persimmon (and an SVG for you)

I did this page for the sketch challenge from Pink Persimmon and Triple the sketch this week. I used an Autumn Leaves flourish stamp under the snowman, stamped it in white, used clear embossing powder, then stamped it to my Glue Pad, and added Martha Stewart Glitter. It didn't show up like I wanted it to, so I added pearl puffy fabric paint and traced around it then I added some flowers, adhesive pearls, and snowflake brads that I sprayed with Elmer's Spray adhesive and dipped in glitter. I cut the snowman from Doodlecharms, first out of a scrap piece of chipboard (that came in a cheap pack of 8 1/2 x 11 paper), then a piece of scrap brown paper, then did the shift cut out of white glitter paper by DCWV, then an orange scrap. I glued it all together, added black mini brads for "coal", and drew the mouth on with a black pen. For the title "white stuff" I cut it from Graphically Speaking out of more white glitter cardstock from DCWV. You can pick up the free svg BRACKET that I made!

I also accepted the challenge from Lora, thescrapbooklady, to make some pages this month... I set myself a goal of 20.This is #1!

Summer Fun Layout and a Freebie

I did this LO for my little girls. I don't usually do the layouts with the paper pieced bears, but I have seen so many that I love, so I thought I would make one for this page.I used papers from Basic Grey's Marrakech line for this LO, and I did a lot of cutting with my Cricut and SCAL for this page. I cut the swirly sun behind the title with my Cricut , and you can find the svg file for that here: Swirly Sun paper piecing

The title itself is a Soft Spoken sticker from Me And My Big Ideas. To make the swirly sun, I cut it out of yellow cardstock using SCAL, then again in Shadow Blackout mode from white cardstock. I sprayed the yellow pieces with my homemade shimmer spray (Thanks for the idea to make my own, Lindsay!). To make the shimmer spray, I put a little Wilton's Pearl Dust (which I had in my cake decorating stash) in a travel sized spray bottle that I got at Wal Mart for about $0.50, squeezed a small tube of cheap yellow watercolor paint I had in to the bottle, and filled it the rest of the way with hairspray (cheapo stuff). I LOVE the shimmer it added to my sun!

I cut this bear using a svg file that some one from my surecuts alot group shared a while back, and a bathing suit and beach ball freebies that I stumbled across (sorry, since these are not my own designs, I am not free to share them) I did have to manipulate them a bit, to get the look I was going for. I paper pieced, chalked the edges and the cheeks, and added the final touches with a black pen and my trusty white Uniball Signo pen.The flowers on the skirt and ear are also from Marrakech's sticker sheet.
