Take Time To Smell the Roses

For today's post, I am sharing a page that I made for the Sketchbook 365 July Challenge (How do you like that for getting it done early, it's not even July yet ;-)  ):

My layout, "Take Time To Smell The Roses":
This layout is made entirely from my most recent "inspired by Shimelle kit": Webster's Pages and Pink Paislee pp, cardstock scraps, and shapes punched from leftover bits of The Girls Paperie pp, embellies: Studio Calico Notions Vintage Pattern Flowers, Petaloo flower, Pebbles rose brads, We R Memory keepers twine, Cosmo Cricket tiny Type that I colored with a rose colored Copic marker, Jolee's bling letters, and a tag stamped with a gorgeous Webster's and Unity Girl Land stamp that I won in a recent blog hop giveaway!

Closer look at the tag:

I have more to share from this kit, but not today, need to get my run in before it gets too hot!

Sassy In The City

Over at the Sassy Studios blog, they are having a relay, and the instructions were to use the first (free and fabulous) image, "Charlotte" with a "Friends" theme...I needed to make a birthday card for my little sis, so this is what I came up with:
The sentiment is from Desert Diva, and the supplies were from my Shimelle Inspired kit. I used my my Cuttlebug for the embossed border, added some gems, and rounded the corners. What a fun image!

Shimelle's Starting Points

Since I have done 2 "Inspired By Shimelle" kits this month, I thought that it would be fitting to play along with some of the fun challenges on Shimelle's blog to use it up! I loved the Scrapbook Starting Point challenge that she posted this week, so I started with it!Here is the page that I came up with:
A Closer look at the fun embellies:

Supplies used (all from my 2nd Shimelle Inspired Kit): kraft cardstock, 2 sheets of Webster's Pages Sunday Picnic patterned paper, aqua washi tape, hot pink twine, Bazzill swiss dots cardstock in light green, a Webster's Pages Girl Land journaling card that I won in a recent blog hop giveaway, a rosette that I received in a swap, a bit of pink crepe paper, a stamp from the Creative Cafe stamps,Cosmo Cricket and Jolee's letter stickers.

Masterforgers Paint Challenge

I used up my whole first kit for the month of June, so I pulled together a second (and a lot more girly!) "Inspired By Shimelle" kit:

I used this kit to do a page for the current Masterforger's challenge, to use paint (I used my mist and Distress Stain):
I used this sketch from Let's Capture These Sketches:

And here is my layout:

Finishing up my Inspired By Shimelle kit

WOW- I really got a lot out of this kit! Here are a few things that I made with it that I haven't shared yet: This page, based on the June 8 sketch from Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits:

My Layout, "Life Is Good Today":
Supplies I used: Co'ordinations Chocolate Box herringbone embossed cardstock that I sanded to show the lighter core, DCWV, Basic Grey, and Heidi Grace patterned paper, a banner made with punched scraps and fiber, and various other bits of punched scraps and paper tape.
The next layout was pulled together from bits of papers and the one full sheet that I had left:
 Supplies used:
GCD Studios Zen Garden "Bamboo"(B side for the main cs), and scraps of Graphic 45, Basic Grey, and DCWV papers, a fiber that reminded me of feathers, a camera from the digi kit (my special item) that I printed out on watercolor paper and fussy cut, Thickers and Scrabble letter stickers.
I also made a couple of cards from the kit; one that was inspired by a sketch from Kimber at 2Peas:

And another card and card base simply made from scraps:

In the end, this is what I was left with:

Not too bad, right? I will probably chuck the smallest scraps, put the stickers and tape away, and keep only the largest scraps.
(This is what I started with):
And here is a quick collage of everything that I made with it:
Be sure and come back tomorrow, I'll be starting on my second "Shimelle Inspired" kit!

Travel Inspired layout

For today's post, I am sharing a page that I made for a couple of challenges: the "Travel Inspired" challenge over at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog, and the DCWV Stack-A-Holic challenge for June:

Here is my layout:

I did have to grab a couple of papers that weren't in my June kit, but I grabbed them from the same stack as a Couple of papers that were already in my kit, Safari Chic.
This makes page #8 from my Inspired by Shimelle/Counterfeit kit for June!

 A peek at the embellies:

It's Gonna Be a Great Day!

Well, my Tuesday has certainly started out with a bang! I was browsing my Google Reader with my cup of coffee, and was so excited to see that this page was picked as a Fave at Let's Get Sketchy last week:

This card was picked as a winner at Paper Bakery Kits:

And I was a lucky winner from the Moxie Fab blog's Winnerday! Woo hoo!! I am feeling lucky and blessed today!

I stepped down from the design team over at Sketches 4 All at the end of April, but I still drop by to play along with some of their challenges when I get a chance, like this fantastic sketch from Becky Fleck over at PageMaps:

The twist was a Father's Day challenge to honor the special men in our lives, so I made a page about my husband's special relationship with our youngest daughter (she is QUITE the Daddy's Girl!):

Close-Ups:

Supplies were all from my Inspired By Shimelle/June Counterfeit kit! Patterned paper/cardstock: Basic Grey Granola and Wisteria, Embellished with punched paper bits, a bit of fiber, Thickers (the asterisk is from the same sheet), the backside of the Tim Holtz Hitch Fastener (I snipped off some of the back of the screw with wire cutters and used a piece of tape to hold it in place), some of the Scrabble letter stickers, a Jenni Bowlin sticker mounted on a stapled tab (that I punched from a sheet of cardstock), and I added a bit of inking with my "messy item" to tie it all together.

2 Super Guys (Pagemaps sketch)

I am having so much fun playing with my June kit! This page was done using this month's PageMaps sketch:

My layout, 2 Super Guys (using a photo I took at my little brother's wedding in April):

Supplies used (all from my Inspired by Shimelle June kit): Basic Grey Granola "Hearty" and "Trail Mix", Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman "Cultured Reserve", Thickers and Scrabble letter stickers, a couple of Echo Park digital printables from my "surprise item" digikit, and a toothpick flag that I made with the Target Kids Made Modern paper tape, and a tiny sun stamp from my Creative Cafe stamp set in my kit.

King Of The Grill

One thing I love about my June kit is that I am scrapping photos of my hubby/and photos that may have been sitting around for a while because of my proclivity for pink! The layout I am sharing today was based on this sketch from Basic Grey:
 My page:
 Close up of the title:
and a stamped embellie (I am having fun using those Studio G stamps that have been in my stash forever!):
All supplies were from my Inspired By Shimelle/Counterfeit kit for June: papers are all Basic Grey Granola collection, with the exception of the orangey piece, which is the back of another piece of patterned cardstock that was in my kit-I inked it with my "messy item". I stamped around the border, on the Vanilla circle, and the word BBQ in the title. The rest of the title was made with Thickers, and I enhanced the layout with a few embellies from my kit: Target paper tape, Jenni Bowlin "Know This", star and journaling stickers (all from the JBS journaling sticker sheet), and inked edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Backyard Camp-Out

Today I am sharing a page that I made with my June Counterfeit kit (also for the Inspired by Shimelle challenge). I based this page on sketch 14 from "Let's Get Sketchy":
 Here is my page:
It was an awesome sketch for using up some scraps from my kit! Supplies I used: Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman "The Sophisticate", The Paper Studio "Cork Board", scraps from most of all of my other papers, Target Kids Made Modern Paper Tape, Jenni Bowlin journaling spot and star strip sticker, "Family" and "Date" from Echo Park Times And Seasons digi kit (my surprise item in my June kit), Scrabble letter stickers, chipboard Thickers, I punched a light blue and a dark brown starburst that I inked up with my "messy item"- ink, and a cream patterned starburst (from my Basic Grey Wisteria "Finch" sheet)-I used my Studio G camping stamps on the cream starburst and another scrap of the Wisteria paper, which I "fussy-cut", and a asterisk from the Thickers sheet.
A Closer look at the cute little stamped images:

Thanks for looking-I'll be back tomorrow with another layout to share!

Inspired By Shimelle kit

Over at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog, we were given a different type of inspiration this month! Here is what they challenged us to do:

June 2012 Inspiration Kit

Our June 2012 Inspiration Kit has a bit of a different twist this month. It is inspired by Shmielle Laine in this video and by this thread on the Two Peas message board and by this "Inspired by Shimelle" Challenge blog post by Jenn Smith-Sloane.

Let me explain...rather than using a specific "inspiration kit", we are going to give you a list of supplies to gather. You can use any color scheme, theme, etc that you would like. As always, this list is not set in stone, if there is something on this list that you don't have (or don't like) feel free to substitute for something that you already have in your stash. The main goal here is still the same a usual..."shop your stash", put together a lovely kit, and USE the kit up!!!

If perhaps, this feels too overwhelming to you, you can always use one of our Design Team member's kits to counterfeit, they will all be revealed tomorrow.

Here is the master list of supplies for your kit...

  • 10 sheets patterned paper
  • 8 sheets cardstock
  • 2 alphabet sets
  • 2 stamp sets
  • 4 journaling spots
  • 3 types of "choose your own" style embellishments (flowers, border strips, ribbon, anything you like)
  • 1 roll washi tape
  • 1 "old" embellishment
  • 1 messy item (paint, embossing, mists, etc)
  • 1 other item of your choice

I was very inspired by this, and loved finding this video and challenge!! Without further ado, here is my kit for the challenge, "Papa's Pocketwatch":

A closer look at my papers:
10 patterned papers: The Paper Studio "Cork Board", October Afternoon Farm Fresh "South Forty", Basic Grey Granola "Jute", "Trail Mix", and Wisteria "Finch", Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman "Cultured Reserve", "The Sophisticate", and Botanicabella "Secret Garden", 2 prints from DCWV Safari Chic stack, and Heidi Grace Paradise Point Shimmer Flocked Dots (oops, I guess that's 11!)

8 Sheets Cardstock: embossed clocks in cream, embossed houndstooth in chocolate box from the Co'ordinations/Graphic 45 stack, Basic Grey Granola "Brown Sugar", "Hearty", "Flax", "Honey", and "Vanilla Bean", GCD Studios Zen Garden "Bamboo"

2 alphabet sets: navy pearl marquise chipboard Thickers, scrabble letters (partially used)

2 Stamp Sets: I used a bigger set from Creative Cafe, and 2 small ones from Studio G

4 journaling spots: a set of Jenni Bowlin journaling spots

3 types of embellishments: Tim Holtz embossing folders, Hitch Fasteners

1 Roll Washi Tape: a light blue paper tape that I picked up at Target a few weeks ago

1 Old Embellishment: the card of brown fibers

1 Messy Item: a stack of inks

1 Item of Your Choice (surprise item): My surprise/other item is this digikit I pulled together:

What do you think? You should definantly watch the video and play along! I can't wait to get started playing with my kit!I am curious how many pages I can make from it?
Here is the hop list so you can see the other designers' kits:

A Scrappy kind of Saturday!

I got some scrappy pages made, played along with some challenges, and made some cards with my huge stash of scraps!
I made this card for the Sketch Saturday sketch from Kimber McGray at 2Peas:
This card was based on this week's sketch from Let's Capture These Sketches:

This card is based on this week's sketch from Card Positioning Systems:
This card is based on a sketch from Paper Bakery Kits:
This card is based on a sketch from Stampin For The Weekend:
Here's a card based on a Sketch Saturday sketch:
 Here's a layout for ScrapFit challenges #69:

Here's a layout based on one of last month's sketches from Creative Scrappers:
 Here's a layout based on a Shimelle sketch from November 30, 2011:
Here's one I did for the Sunshine Crop at Creative Scrappers, the first sketch:
See those letters-they were from the sheet of white chipboard letters in my May Counterfeit Kit- I stamped them with the Glitz stamps(also in my kit), and some Ranger Distress ink in Dusty Concord.
I had so much fun using my kits (although I barely put a dent in them!), and playing with my paper scraps. At least I don't feel too bad about getting started on my June kit now that I got a little done!
