A Scrappy Sunday, Part #1

I had some free time and the house to myself today, so I had some time for scrappy fun! I worked on using up bits and pieces from previous counterfeit kits , and making pages for some challenges. Up first, a page that I made for sketch #227 over at Creative Scrappers.

Papers used: B-sides from Simple Stories Summer Fresh, Pink Paislee Declaration, Pink Paislee London Market. I used a loopy border punch, Prima decorative tape, a Grungeboard flourish that I painted and heat embossed , hot pink Prima flowers, one Crate Paper journaling spot, woodgrain letter stickers from Momenta, and a layered flower from my September kit.

Yesterday Was A Scrappy Kind of Day...

Whew!! I was trying to use up as much as I could of my Counterfeit Kit, at least the stuff I had ideas for...

The first layout I did was for this week's Sketchy Thursdays sketch...

The layout: "Love, Honor, Cherish" was done with photos from my little sis's wedding this past summer (wasn't she beautiful?), and made up almost entirely of my Counterfeit Kit. The only thing I added were the Doodlebug Frills (the black scalloped borders). They needed a little pizazz, so I painted them with the homemade Concrete Glimmer Glam paint from my color kit, then misted them with Homemade Moonlight White shimmer mist. I was impatient, so I used my heat tool to dry it, so I could go ahead and use it.

The second layout, "Frosty Kisses", used photos that I took of my brother, his girlfriend, and her little boy. The supplies were completely from my Counterfeit Kit from February, with the exception of the journaling spot from Creative Imaginations, from my January kit, and the tiny scraps of flourish blings.The title and snowflakes are cut from my Winter Woodland cartridge and Cricut.The next layout, "Snow Day", used up some of the pics from all of our recent snows. Again, most supplies were from my February Counterfeit Kit. I did swap the light blue cardstock from my kit for this slightly different shade of light blue Bazzill (Swiss Dots) from my stash, because I felt it matched my photos better.I used cardstock scraps from my Feb kit, a Martha Stewart punch for the scalloped border, and added a Making Memories Noteworthy sheet for the journaling.I used Winter Woodland again to cut out snowflake accents and the "Snow Day" title, using scraps of the lavendar cardstock and leftover pieces of the GCD Studios paper on the shimmery white back side for the layering and snowflakes. I used white Momento ink on the circle chipboard , and sprayed with my Plum Crazy and Moonlight White homemade shimmer mists. I dried it with my heat tool, and used my Doodlebug rub-on letters for the word, "fun".The last layout, "Sharing", was of some sweet cupcake sharing photos of my twins-the photo coloring was a bit off, but I wanted to scrap this sweet memory, anyway. From my Counterfeit Kit, I used the Back of one of my Basic Grey sheets for the background of this layout, a Basic Grey chipboard label, a few light pink Basic Grey Painted Brads, the last tiny pink flower, a Jenni Bowlin journaling spot, a grungeboard bookplate, and a cupcake feltie and a mini banner from my stash.I inked the grungeboard with Tea Dye and Walnut Stain Distress ink pads, and misted with my homemade Moonlight White shimmer mist, and the cupcake feltie was one I made for a swap on 2 Peas in a Bucket.The chipboard Basic Grey plaque, I inked with white Momento ink, painted the edges with Opal Shimmerz, and misted the chipboard with the Moonlight White shimmer mist. I also used the Making Memories pink glitter stickers, and the patterned mini banner was from a mini banner swap on 2 PeasHere is what I started the month with:

Here is what's left of my Counterfeit Kit, Cardstock, and Romance Add-ons!! I know, it looks like alot, but it actually is not very much when you consider all of the stuff I started with. I did have some partially used ribbon, tulle, and Remarks journaling stickers left, that I put back in my stash. And, out of all of my patterned papers and cardstock, I only have 1 full sheet each of cardstock and patterned paper, and a few partial sheets and scraps. I do have one more layout and card in the works, which I will share in the next few days.

All in all, yesterday was a very productive scrapbooking day, but I have some cleaning to do today!

Travel Mini Album

Since my family is going on vacation soon, I thought it would be nice to have a mini album/journal for us to record our memories as we go. This is what I came up with.

The whole album is made up of the plain sheets of Tim Holtz Grungeboard. I punched 3 holes in the end with my Crop-A-Dile Big Bite, and put on book rings ( easy to take off and put on as I finished them).

For the cover, I inked the Grungeboard with "Tumbled Glass" Distress Ink pad, then misted it with Turquoise , Riptide, Sea Glass, and Sand Glimmer Mists. I colored this lovely sketch from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Seaside Sketches digistamp set with colored pencils, glued it to the cover of my mini, then surrounded the scene with tiny glass beads in various blues and golds, to mimic sand and water. The letters for the word "Travel" are from Making Memories Passport collection but they were flat stickers, so I attached them to a scrap of Grungeboard, and trimmed the excess.I added a Prima flower and a strand of golden brown beads. I decorated the book rings with various blue and white ribbons, tulle, and twill, and added a Grungeboard "key", that I embossed with gold embossing powder (looks real. huh? ;-) ).

For this part, I attached papers from the Making Memories Passport collection to the Grungeboard, and misted with turquoise, sand, and sea glass Glimmer Mists (very lightly). for the right side, I added a journaling sticker from the Passport collection. For the center, I added a little journaling card from Crafty Secrets, and an envelope for memorabilia that I cut from Kraft paper using Lindsay's Stamp Stuff's Envelope Bonanza svg set. The right side is also misted with Glimmer Mist, and I added an embossed golden keyhole and brads, and inked the edges with Sapphire Distress Ink.

For the next pages, I used some light blue papers from the Passport collection, and stamped a border and title with some stamps from the Passport collection and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. For the center I used a Margarita digistamp freebie, which I printed on white cardstock, cut and embossed with my one Nestie, colored with my Copics, inked the edges with "Tumbled Glass" Distress Ink. I covered my "Blue Hawaiian" with Crystal Stickles, and my hurricane glass with Glossy Accents. For the right side, I used another Passport stamp and "Tumbled Glass" Distress Ink, and tied an "island blue" sheer ribbon for accent.

On the next pages, I used "sand" style paper from DCWV. On the left side, it is accented with sheer ribbon and a travel journaling tag from K&Co, which I also tied a sheer ribbon onto. I added another Crafty Secrets journaling card, and a Making Memories shaped journaling note paper. For the right side, I simply accented it with a ZVA Creative rhinestone flourish to evoke the feeling of a water spray or splash.

On the next pages, I left the grungeboard bare, and misted with sapphire, riptide, turquoise, and sea glass Glimmer Mists, dried with my heat embossing tool, and re-misted, and dried again. Then, I rubbed my glue pad on the edges, dipped them in gold embossing powder and heated. I added an orange hibiscus journaling tag from K&Co to the center.

The next pages are covered with some DCWV travel pages, inked the edges with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink. On the right side, I added a tiny envelope from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Envelope Bonanza svg set, and a tiny road sign that I cut from an svg I picked up somewhere (I have no idea where or I would share the link). Anyway, I cut it, stamped a tiny palm tree with a Studio G stamp, and inked the edges.

The next 2 pages are for the day of my sister's wedding, so I tried to make them a bit more elegant. I attached a creamy white shimmer swirl paper to a kraft background. I finished it off with a black Doodlebug Frill. I tied a tiny organza bag in the center to hold a small souvenir or momento.

The last 2 pages are dedicated to the drive home. I used paper from DCWV's Mango Frost stack, and stickers/journaling spot from Making Memories Passport collection. For the back cover, I left the Grungeboard bare, then misted with Sand Glimmer Mist, Mango, Treasured Hymn, Trufflez, Ruby, and Bed of Roses Shimmerz. To finish off the back cover, I colored another digistamp from Lindsay's Seaside Sketches.

The last Father's Day card...

I have always struggled with guy cards/pages, so Father's Day is a toughie for me...but I got 'em all done! Here's a peek at the card I made for my hubby. I based the design off of this week's sketch at Card Positioning Systems. The embossing is the Cuttlebug Diamond Plate folder, the arrow is Tim Holtz Grungeboard, and I inked and distressed the card and arrow with Tim Holtz Distress Inks. Thanks for looking!

Cowboy Cutie!

Isn't he the CUTEST Cowboy you've ever seen? I made this page for week 26 of 52 Sketches, 52 Weeks. This is one of my favorite pictures that I have ever taken of my son-he usually has that big cheeseball grin (my fault, I know, I am paparazzi Mommy!). Anyway, I love how this photo from last Halloween came out. I used a white textured cardstock background, inked the edges with black Graphite Brillance ink pad, then I attached the 2 pieces of red bandana print paper. I cut the barbed wire with my Cricut and an svg file from Dan's blog (SVG Masks). I matted the photo on black cardstock, and attached some round adhesive backed studs that I got from Walmart a loooong time ago. For the pocket, I printed the Denim Pocket digistamp from Lindsay's StampStuff onto denim print paper. The stitching didn't show up enought for me, so I traced the stitch marks with a red marker. The tag is blank Grungeboard by Tim Holtz, which I used a template to trace and hand cut. I then used red "Ladybug" Momento ink to color the tag, and a Graphite Brilliance ink pad to ink the edges. I wrote my journaling by hand with a black pen, then braided raphia for the tie. I cut a little green cactus with my Cricut, stuck the edge under the bottom piece of patterned paper, then used Making Memories black polka dot Puffy Alpha letter stickers for the title. Here's my layout for week 5 sketch at 52 Sketches, 52 Weeks. The papers are: DCWV Rock Star Stack (lips), Bazzill Basics (scalloped circle), DCWV Metallic Stack(circle). I also used Grungeboard by Tim Holtz, black glitter Thickers by American Crafts, and flower by The Paper Studio, rhinestone brad by Making Memories.
